Summer Movie Preview

Wow, summer is already in full swing and the movies so far (besides Top Gun: Maverick) are.... yikes.

Does the rest of this summer hold any promise? Well, there are only four films on this list so that's not great to begin with. Supply chain problems, for summer movies?

The films coming out that hold the most promise are (in order):

4) Beast - I love a summer movie about a natural creature wreaking havoc (like Jaws, The Ghost and the Darkness, and Crawl). This film starring Idris Elba sounds like it has a lot of potential in that realm. It's about a father and his two teenage daughters who find themselves being hunted by a massive rogue lion in Africa. Elba is a great actor and this sounds like a winner.

3) Bullet Train - This looks like it could be a fun, wild ride. The film is about an unlucky hitman, played by Brad Pitt, caught on a train full of other pros trying to kill him in Japan. Another movie about a hitman is not that appealing - it's time to retire that from film in general; but this has the potential to be something exciting.

2) Thor: Love and Thunder - Taika Waititi has yet to do any wrong, so here is hoping his hit streak continues. The MCU could use a shot of adrenaline and maybe this will improve on what they did with Thor: Ragnarock (which was a terrific and hilarious movie).

1) Nope - Hopefully, Jordan Peele can save this summer at the movies (along with the big boost given by Tom Cruise at the get go). Not much is known about this one, but here is hoping it has some of those Get Out thrills.
